My Draftkings Picks

Bradley Scott (+125) vs.  Scott Askham (-145)
Brad Scott is a super tough fighter.  He comes forward and he hits hard. That’s pretty much it. He is a pressure fighter who can take a punch.  Scott Askham is a long rangy fighter.  He has decent footwork and he knows how to use his reach.  It really just comes down to game plan and styles make fights.  Scott’s come forward style won’t work with a long rangy fighter who can circle and keep things on the outside.  Also Askham will have the grappling advantage in this fight.  Brad hasn’t fought in over a year, this is going to be a tough fight but I’m giving Askham the nod.

Arnold Allen (+100 ) vs.  Makwan Amirkhani  (-120)
I am impressed with both fighters.  It's hard breaking down these kinds of fights because to be honest these our fairly new to the UFC and have fought fighters who during the UFC career who were just regional prospects who aren’t in the UFC anymore.  So basically this fight is the test to where both of these two fighters stand.   I like both fighters but I’m going with Makwan.  I don’t have any insight style wise or deficiencies I’ve seen from their previous fights. I’m going Makwan basically from what I’ve heard about his training and his mentality to the sport.  He is super focused, he literally sleeps in the gym.  he recently moved to SBG in Ireland to train.  From what I could gauge from Makwan’s fights he will have the grappling advantage especially if he ends up on top.  I’m predicting a first round finish for Makwan Amirkhani, Mr. Finland.

Marc Diakiese (-235) vs Teemu Packalen (+195)
Wow, I’m surprised that Diakiese is not a stronger favorite.  Marc is an amazing athlete strong, young, and explosive.  Teemu at 6’1 is one of the taller lightweights behind James Vick.  Marc Diakiese is a better striker and wrestler. I was very impressed with Teemu’s ability to create sweeps off the bottom but I can easily see Marc Diakiese staying heavy and effectively implementing some ground and pound.   I was surprised at Diakiese ability to out wrestle his last opponent Frankie Perez he was able to put him against the cage and keep him there.  Teemu had a problem getting off the cage in his debut and I can see easily see Diakiese holding Teemu against the cage to close the distance against the longer fighter.  Diakiese TKO 2nd.

Alan Jouban (+270) vs (-330) Gunnar Nelson
Ok I’m a Jouban fan, so right off the bat I’m going to claim bias in this pick  but I don’t get why the oddsmakers have it this way.  I think they are doing some MMA Math by taking their common opponent Albert Tumenov and Joubans’ loss to him as cause for this odds discrepancy.   I’ve heard Jouban say in a interview that he was cutting weight for Albert Tumenov fight for a modeling shoot and then he cut weight again for the the fight. Totally affecting him when he fought, so i’m calling that one a mollagain .  Gunnar last loss other than to Damein Maia, who showed who has the better ground game by totally dominating Nelson,  was against Rick Story.  Gunnar could not deal with the come forward pressure wrestler boxer style.  I think Jouban patience in his striking game and his ability to defend the take downs will allow him to keep the it standing where I believe he will have the advantage.   Oddsmakers are wrong on this one.

Darren Stewart (-175) vs. (+155)  Francimar Barroso
Francimar Barroso is just big strong lumbering dude who is tends to gas out in the 3rd round. Darren Stewart is explosive and just a better fighter.  Also Darren already won this fight but it turned to a no contest due to a headbutt.  However, Darren seemed to be the stronger more aggressive fighter up until that headbutt.  I don’t think much would have changed in this fight Darren Stewart KO 1st RD.  You aren’t getting any more detail because Barroso has been given tomato cans and easy matchups.

Jimi Manuwa (-140) vs. (+120) Corey Anderson
Manuwa looked great against OSP and OSP is great fighter.  Corey Anderson is the younger fighter who is the classic college wrestler who seems to be getting better with his striking each fight.  His striking isn’t that dangerous he just uses it to set up his takedowns.  I think Manuwa will be ready for his game plan.  He’s been training with Alexander Gustafsson for this fight.  I’m not saying that Corey won’t get a takedown; what I believe is that if that occurs Manuwa will be back to his feet.  In Anderson’s last fight against Shogun he got hit way too often in that fight and if Corey is fighting the same way he did against Shogun. It's going to be a short night for Anderson because Manuwa hits a lot harder.  Manuwa 1st KO.
