Ronda’s Media Black Out. Does it even matter?

I really would like to see the numbers of the PPV after 207. The big story is that Ronda is blacking out the media. Cain dropping off another card isn't even a subject. I mean Cain's ability to stay healthy is a legitimate issue. This guy is worse than Tony Romo and Sam Bradford combined. Yet the rematch between the two former champions has fallen to the waste side. While the only story I seem to be hearing is Ronda’s mental state. I get the questions. I’ve been wondering about it myself. When she lost to Holm it was unexpected. The media leading up to the fight was centered around Ronda being unbeatable and a superstar. Part of the media for that fight was just talking about how Ronda was on all these commercials and how she was filming movies in the middle of her fight camps. They did an hour long Embedded that centered around Ronda’s meteoric rise as a superstar. They don’t even do that for Conor McGregor and pulls more numbers. The media leading up to that fight gave very little credence to Holly’s ability to stop Ronda.

That all changed. She lost in devastating fashion. That meteor came crashing down, and when the dust settled Ronda was nowhere to be found. You’ve seen countless press conferences where former champions sit there, broken hearted and melancholy, answering question after question right after the biggest loss of their careers. You get pretty much the same response from them “I’ll be back” “He was the better man today” “I’m going to learn from this loss and work my way back to the title” Instead we got crickets. We see Ronda leave the airport not with her head high but with her face covered and shrouded in defeat.

Well She’s back. That long-ass promo they came up with sells that fight. Why? Because Ronda’s back. We love to build up heroes but will also love to tear them down. But more importantly we love a comeback. Everyone loves that comeback story because we all know we can fail but we all want a second chance for redemption. So that’s what this fight’s about, we all saw or heard the excerpts from the ‘Ellen’ interview. She went to a dark place after that loss. So we all doubt her mental fortitude because she didn’t comeback like our prototypical champions. She’s going about it differently. She’s given us peeks but the anticipation of her return is the selling point. Granted Nunes is the Champion but would you have the same anticipation if it was another contender. No, Ronda sells the fight and Nunes knows this. Nunes is getting PPV points, so I’m sure she is fine with Ronda Rousey getting all the promotion because its in her wallets interest. What we do know is that she focused. No media obligations. No distractions. I’m hyped aren’t you? Whose going to win. #FeartheReturn #ShesBack #207
